Faith and Fear: Same Nature, Different Production

The Same in Nature

Faith and fear are the same in nature, but different in production. They work identically the same.

Think about it: both are unseen. Both are spiritual. Both begin as a thought, grow into a conviction, and end as an experience. Neither of them can work without you — yet each of them is working in somebody right now.

One is positive, the other is negative in experience.

Both Are Result Oriented

If you have faith for anything, you will receive it. And if you have fear for anything, it shall come upon you.

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” — Mark 11:24

“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” — Job 3:25

Both are result oriented. Neither faith nor fear is barren — each one always delivers its end product. The only question is: which product are you ordering?

Both require your focus of meditative thought to accomplish their end product.

Meditation is the womb. What you keep turning over in your mind, you become pregnant with — and you will surely give birth to it. Faith meditates on the promise until the promise becomes the reality. Fear meditates on the threat until the threat becomes the reality. Same womb, different babies.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8

Faith’s Exhibit: She Said Within Herself

The woman with the issue of blood had faith for her healing. Hear her meditation: “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” She said it within herself, she focused it, she acted on it — and she received it.

“For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” — Matthew 9:21

That is faith’s production line: desire it, believe it, receive it.

Fear’s Exhibit: The Ten Spies

The ten spies had fear for the giants. Hear their meditation: “We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.” They broadcast their fear, Israel believed the report — and the thing they feared came upon them: they died in the wilderness they were afraid of.

“And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched.” — Numbers 13:32

That is fear’s production line: dread it, confess it, suffer it.

Which One Dominates You?

The problem is that I don’t know which one of them dominates you every day of your life. So examine yourself:

What do you meditate on at midnight when sleep refuses to come — promises or threats?
What fills your mouth through the day — “I shall be whole” or “we be not able”?
Which end product keeps arriving in your life — received desires or fulfilled fears?

Your answers will tell you who is ruling over you.

Choose the Former

Nevertheless, you can choose for yourself which one dominates and rules over you. And I pray you won’t fail to choose the former — Faith.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear was never given to you by God. So return it to its sender. Choose faith today — focus it, meditate it, confess it — and watch it produce.
